LOVIN' THE BEACH, SERVING SickKids! Helping to Find a Cure for Childhood Cancer! The funds raised from these incredible HEATWAVE Events support The James Fund at SickKids. James was 8 years old when he passed away from neuroblastoma, a deadly childhood cancer of the central nervous system. James knew that there was little that could be done for him but was more concerned that no other kids would die of this disease. Before James died, he knew that a Research Fund in his name was established at The Hospital for SickKids. "I will always be fighting cancer!" said James. We hope you will join us in fulfilling James' words.
With outstanding patient care, research and education, SickKids is one of the leading centres for children's health care both in Canada and around the world. This would not be possible without the generosity of the community!
I hope your team(s) can join us.

about HSC - Imagine Every Child Healthy - We do { 枫下论坛 www.rolia.net/forum }
The Hospital for SickKids, affectionately called SickKidsds, is one of the largest paediatric academic health science centres in the World, with an international reputation for excellence in health care, research and teaching. Each year, approximately 15,000 children stay at SickKids in close to 400 beds; almost 300,000 visits are made to more than 100 clinics; emergency staff treat 50,000 children; and 13,000 operations are performed.
As a local hospital, SickKids meets the basic health needs of children who live in the City of Toronto. But more than half the patients come from outside the city, the come from other parts of Canada, and from around the World.
Heatwave Serves up Funds for The James Fund within The Hospital for SickKids
The funds raised from these incredible HEATWAVE Events support The James Fund at SickKids. James was 8 years old when he passed away from neuroblastoma, a deadly childhood cancer of the central nervous system. James knew that there was little that could be done for him but was more concerned that no other kids would die of this disease. Before James died, he knew that a Research Fund in his name was established at The Hospital for SickKids. "I will always be fighting cancer!" said James. We hope you will join us in fulfilling James' words: "I will always be fighting cancer".
Making a Difference in the Children's Cancer Field at SickKids Hospital
Dr. David Kaplan, Senior Scientist and Head, Cancer Research Program, Hospital for SickKids says, "The James Fund has had three major benefits for SickKids. It has provided funding to scientists and clinicians who "think outside the box" by proposing new and innovative solutions to this devastating cancer. It has allowed SickKids to set up a drug development and testing unit that will discover drugs to treat not only neuroblastoma, but also all pediatric cancers. Finally it has encouraged superb students and senior investigators working on adult cancers to now work in the children's cancer field. The result has been an influx of excellent scientists to SickKids to work on neuroblastoma and other children's tumors. We at SickKids are very grateful to the James Fund and its donors."
The Hospital for SickKids, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is Canada's most research-intensive hospital and the largest centre dedicated to improving children's health in the country. Its mission is to provide the best in family-centred, compassionate care, to lead in scientific and clinical advancement, and to prepare the next generation of leaders in child health.
