尼尔·布什是美国前总统老布什的第三子、前总统小布什的弟弟，他继承了对石油的兴趣并获得成功。高中时，被诊断患有阅读障碍症，但其父母给予了他莫大的信心，以至后来尼尔成为全家公认的演讲天才。他在中国担任北京一家房地产公司的联席董事长，与大型钢铁企业首钢控股合作，帮助其进入非洲。2011年8月30日尼尔·布什在新浪开通微博。
2012年8月27日早9:30，尼尔·布什在新浪微博上发表了一张照片，照片中他头戴解放帽，斜跨“为人民服务”挎包，手中拿着有毛主席头像的搪瓷杯。并配文：“I'm thinking of joining the CCP.What do you think of my accessories?”我正在考虑加入中国共产党。你觉得我的装备怎么样？”
尼尔.布什是布什家族中第一位作此表示的。
