It happened in a "5-star" hotel in downtown Toronto a few years ago. One table of 4 Chinese (I can hear they were speaking Chinese) Rich people talking very loud and one of them try to smoke. a Waitress came by and told them "Smoking is not allow ". He pretended he cannot hear what the waitress saying and continue to light a Cigarette. The manager came by and told him again "Smoking is not allow here". The Chinese rich guy bring out some money from his pocket (For me, it's a lot, but not sure how much) and told the manager "I need to smoke, I will pay for that" Finally, the manager said "Sorry, you cannot, would you please leave here or I will call the police" .......As a Chinese, I cannot pretend I were not a Chinese. at that moment, I was feeling so uncomfortable. In China, once you have money, you can do anything, even kill somebody who you don't like, but not in Canada. We welcome Chinese here, no matter they are rich or they are not rich, but they need to follow the rules. Of course , 99.999% of Chinese are good people, but just 100%-99.999% to make us uncomfortable.
When we think about it, whoever rich, nothing to do with others. They are not sharing their money with others, so Why others need to smoke 2nd -hand smoke from them?
