High Park每年都吸引过百万名游客，被誉为多伦多众多公园之中的瑰宝。

High Park位处 Bloor St，占地161公顷（399英亩），在繁荣的市中心为大家提供一点超凡独特的大自然气色。
High Park被视为多市最重要的大自然景点之一 htmldescription 公园三分之一的范围依然保持其自然生态，并拥有极多稀有品种植物，因而成为多种野生生物，包括禽鸟、鱼和动物的居所。

High Park的公共交通网络发达，而且一年四季都设有吸引游人的景点和康乐设施，园内有无轨小火车在园内各个景点穿梭（需要另外付费）

包括历史悠久的知名建筑：Colborne Lodge,这里每到复活节等节日都会举办相关活动。

一个儿童游乐场，这个游乐场是由义工在10天之内修建好的！这个游乐场的主要儿童游乐设施的看上去象一个城堡，整个游乐场占到10000平方尺，有1/3为小孩子设计，有围栏以保障孩子的安全。游乐场旁边紧挨着一个养鸭湖，和一个宠物园。

High Park还有园艺及其漂亮的Hillside Grden以及运动场、户外溜冰场。

此外，High Park亦是闻名的戏剧表演活动Dream in High Park的举办场地；这个极受欢迎的室外戏剧表演活动，已成为多伦多市民及游客每年夏天必定参与的盛事。

小提示：
1.5月1日到10月1日只能从Bloor Street上的入口进入
2.如果你有小朋友，从High Park Blvd入口进入，离孩子的游乐场和宠物园最近。或者在Grenadier Restaurant旁边停车，走5分钟路
3.High Park有一个戏水池，在Bloor Street的入口，靠近High Park地铁站。
4.靠近孩子游乐园的Colborne Lodge提供免费的Drop-in活动，周四10:00到中午。
5.靠近Bloor 入口有Snack Bar，也有靠近High Park Blvd的Grenadier Restaurant。早上听着鸟鸣，吃着早餐一定很开心。

Emu：

Emus are large birds. The largest can reach up to 150 to 190 centimetres (59–75 in) in height, 1 to 1.3 metres (3.3–4.3 ft) at the shoulder. Emus weigh between 18 and 48 kilograms (40 and 106 lb).

They have small vestigial wings and a long neck and legs. Their ability to run at high speeds, 48 km/h (30 mph), is due to their highly specialised pelvic limb musculature.

Their feet have only three toes and a similarly reduced number of bones and associated foot muscles; they are the only birds with gastrocnemius muscles in the back of the lower legs. The pelvic limb muscles of emus have a similar contribution to total body mass as the flight muscles of flying birds. They have a soft bill, adapted for grazing.


The neck of the Emu is pale blue and shows through its sparse feathers. They have brown to grey-brown plumage of shaggy appearance; the shafts and the tips of the feathers are black. Solar radiation is absorbed by the tips, and the loose-packed inner plumage insulates the skin.

The resultant heat is prevented from flowing to the skin by the insulation provided by the coat, allowing the bird to be active during the heat of the day. A unique feature of the Emu feather is its double rachis emerging from a single shaft. The sexes are similar in appearance.

On very hot days, emus pant to maintain their body temperature, their lungs work as evaporative coolers and, unlike some other species, the resulting low levels of carbon dioxide in the blood do not appear to cause alkalosis. For normal breathing in cooler weather, they have large, multifolded nasal passages. Cool air warms as it passes through into the lungs, extracting heat from the nasal region. On exhalation, the Emu's cold nasal turbinates condense moisture back out of the air and absorb it for reuse.

Their calls consist of loud booming, drumming, and grunting sounds that can be heard up to 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) away. The booming sound is created in an inflatable neck sac that is 30 cm (12 in) long and thin-walled.

鸸鹋是鹤鸵目鸸鹋科的大型鸟类，原产澳大利亚，又叫澳洲鸵鸟。

鸸鹋体型介于非洲鸵鸟和美洲鸵鸟之间，头高1.6米左右，体高90-100平方米，体重40-50千克，性成熟年龄为18-22月龄。鸸鹋属于季节性繁殖的鸟类，产蛋期在我国南方为每年的10月中旬到翌年的4月，繁殖期内可产蛋30-50枚。

鸸鹋善奔跑，喜群居，饲养密度一般为每只占地15-20平方米，繁殖群每只占地30平方米左右。鸸鹋的跳跃力不强，可采用1.5米高的铁丝网或篱笆墙圈养，繁殖期可按公母比为1：2-3进行单圈饲养。

鸸鹋属草食性动物，喜采食多种植物茎叶，三叶草、苜蓿、豆叶、甘薯叶、蒲公英、黑麦草等都是鸸鹋喜食的青绿饲料。饲养鸸鹋，精料的投喂量为每天每只0.8千克左右，并与新鲜的饲草切碎后搅拌均匀，草料比为1：1，每天饲喂3次。

Yak：
Yaks are herd animals. They are among the largest wild bovids. Wild male yaks stand about 2 to 2.2 metres (6.6 to 7.2 ft) tall at the shoulder and weigh up to 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) or more and have a head and body length of 3 to 3.4 m (9.8 to 11 ft). The females weigh about one third of this and are about 30% smaller in dimensions.

Both sexes have long shaggy hair to insulate them from the cold. Wild yaks can be brown or black. Domesticated ones can also be white. Both males and females have horns.

Yaks mate in about September; the females may first conceive at about 18 months of age, calving April to June, and can calve every year, apparently depending upon food supply. This gestation period is approximately 8.5 months.

In the absence of more data, wild animals are assumed to mirror this reproductive behavior. Calves will be weaned at one year and become independent shortly thereafter. Yaks may live to more than 20 years.

牦牛被称作高原之舟，是西藏高山草原特有的牛种，主要分布在喜马拉雅山脉和青藏高原。牦牛全身一般呈黑褐色，身体两侧和胸、腹、尾毛长而密，四肢短而粗健。牦牛生长在海拔3000米一5000米的高寒地区，能耐零下30℃一40℃的严寒，而爬上6400米处的冰川则是牦牛爬高的极限。牦牛是世界上生活在海拔最高处的哺乳动物。

　　牦牛分为野牦牛和家牦牛，野牦牛又叫野牛，学名Bos mutus，英文名wild yak，藏名音译亚归。偶蹄目，牛科，牛亚科、牦牛属。是家牦牛的野生同类，典型的高寒动物，性极耐寒。青藏高原特有牛种，为国家一类保护动物。

　　野牦牛体形笨重、粗壮，但比印度野牛略小，体长为200—260厘米，尾长约80—100厘米，肩高160—180厘米，体重500—600千克，雄性个体明显大于雌性个体。野牦牛具有耐苦、耐寒、耐饥、耐渴的本领，对高山草原环境条件有很强的适应性。

Peacock：

Females are about 86 cm (34 in) long and weigh 2.75–4 kg (6-8.8 lbs), while males average at about 2.12 m (7.3 ft) in full breeding plumage (107 cm/42 in when not) and weigh 4–6 kg (8.8-13.2 lbs). The male is called a peacock, the female a peahen. The Peacock has iridescent blue-green plumage. The upper tail coverts on its back are elongated and ornate with an eye at the end of each feather. These are the Peacock's display feathers.

The female plumage is a mixture of vibrant yellow, dark purple, deep red and iridescent blue, with the greenish-grey predominating. In the breeding season, females stand apart by lacking the long 'tail feathers' also known as train, and in the non-breeding season they can be distinguished from males by the green colour of the neck as opposed to the blue on the males.

Peafowl are most notable for the male's extravagant display feathers which, despite actually growing from their back, are known as a 'tail' or train. This train is in reality not the tail but the enormously elongated upper tail coverts. The tail itself is brown and short as in the peahen. The colours result from the micro-structure of the feathers and the resulting optical phenomena.

The ornate train is believed to be the result of female sexual selection as males raised the feathers into a fan and quiver it as part of courtship display. Many studies have suggested that the quality of train is an honest signal of the condition of males and that peahens select males on the basis of their plumage. More recent studies however, suggest that other cues may be involved in mate selection by peahens.

孔雀，因其能开屏而闻名于世。雄孔雀羽毛翠绿，下背闪耀紫铜色光泽。尾上覆羽特别发达，平时收拢在身后，伸展开来长孔雀孔雀约 1米左右， 就是所谓的“孔雀开屏”。这些羽毛绚丽多彩，羽支细长，犹如金绿色丝绒，其末端还具有众多由紫、蓝、黄、红等色构成的大型眼状斑，开屏时反射着光彩，好像无数面小镜子，真真鲜艳夺目。

它们身体粗壮，雄鸟长约1.4米，雌鸟全长约1.1米。头顶上那簇 高高耸立着的羽冠，也别具风度。雌孔雀无尾屏，背面浓褐色，并泛着绿光，不过没有雄孔雀美丽。 能够自然开屏的只能是雄孔雀。符合大自然的规律，孔雀中以雄性较美丽，而雌性却其貌不扬。雄孔雀身体内的生殖腺分泌性激素，刺激大脑，展开尾屏。

春天是孔雀产卵繁殖后代的季节。于是，雄孔雀就展开它那五彩缤纷、色泽艳丽的尾屏，还不停地做出各种各样优美的舞蹈动作，向雌孔雀炫耀自己的美丽，以此吸引雌孔雀。待到它求偶成功之后，便与雌孔雀一起产卵育雏。

In Japan cherry blossoms also symbolize clouds due to their nature of blooming en masse, besides being an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life, an aspect of Japanese cultural tradition that is often associated with Buddhistic influence, and which is embodied in the concept of mono no aware.

The most popular variety of sakura in Japan is the Somei Yoshino. Its flowers are nearly pure white, tinged with the palest pink, especially near the stem. They bloom and usually fall within a week, before the leaves come out. Therefore, the trees look nearly white from top to bottom.

The variety takes its name from the village of Somei (now part of Toshima in Tokyo). It was developed in the mid- to late-19th century at the end of the Edo period and the beginning of the Meiji period. The Somei Yoshino is so widely associated with cherry blossoms that jidaigeki and other works of fiction often depict the variety in the Edo period or earlier; such depictions are anachronisms.

Cherry blossom is an omen of good fortune and is also an emblem of love, affection and represents spring. Cherry blossoms are an enduring metaphor for the fleeting nature of life, and as such are frequently depicted in art.

Vancouver, BC is famous for its thousands of cherry blossom trees lining many streets and in many parks, including Queen Elizabeth Park and Stanley Park. Vancouver holds the annual Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival every year.

High Park in Toronto, ON features many Somei-Yoshino cherry trees (the earliest species to bloom and much loved by the Japanese for their fluffy white flowers) that were given to Toronto by Japan in 1959. Through the Sakura Project, the Japanese Embassy donated a further 34 cherry trees to High Park in 2001, plus cherry trees to various other locations like Exhibition Place, McMaster University, York University and the University of Toronto's main and Scarborough campuses.

    染井吉野，又称吉野樱，日本樱花的一个重要栽培品种，由大岛樱和江户彼岸樱杂交而成，分别继承了两者花朵大和先花后叶的特点。

   日本在奈良时代以前，赏花指的是梅花，梅花为樱花所取代是从平安时代开始，而那时的樱花主要是山樱，叶子多余，花朵并不十分具有观赏性，“江户彼岸”和“大岛”两种樱花品种杂交才有今天我们看到的烂漫樱花，这个杂交品种也属于山樱花，为了区别与其他的山樱花，在明治年间被正式赋予了“染井吉野”的名称，以示对染井园艺村的纪念。

染井吉野的花朵为单瓣花，淡粉红色，4～5朵花形成总状花序，萼片及花梗上有毛，萼筒上部比较细，花蕾是粉红色，在叶子长出前就盛开略带淡红色的白花，给人十分华丽的印象。树形高大，可达10～15米。在公园、学校内种植较多，作为最受欢迎的樱花而推广到日本各地。据说现在80%的樱花都是染井吉野。花期为4月至5月中旬。

下雨了，以为会遇上一场花吹雪，可是樱花仍然盛开得很壮观，只是靠近湖边的那一大片有些长出叶子了，远看效果差了点，没有动物园前面的一小片好看。还按你的指点看了小动物园，见到孔雀了！谢谢！不是说你经常上那公园吗？什么时候来几张孔雀开屏的和白天鹅的美照啊？今天都没看到这些，有点失望哦。
