So much for the chances of a quick end to a strike at the Great Blue Heron Charity Casino in Port Perry. A tentative agreement reached just over three hours after the strike began on Friday has fallen apart. Workers rejected in on Sunday.
Eight-hundred-and-fifty unionized workers are off the job including dealers, slot technicians, housekeeping, bar and restaurant staff. The workers' current three-year contract expired September 1st.
Casino management has reduced hours of operation during the strike. Instead of being open around the clock, hours are now limited to 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. daily. |
