GST 税是保守党在1989年 为去除富人税MST而立法收取，主要是针对中产阶层设立的税，中产税GST。

The purpose of the national sales tax was to replace the 13.5% Manufacturers' Sales Tax (MST) that the federal government imposed at the wholesale level on manufactured goods. Mulroney claimed the GST was implemented because the MST was hindering the manufacturing sector's ability to export competitively.

Increasing capital gains after 250k can affect a lot of Canadians during their lifetimes.  Anyone who sells real estate or any time they have to make a once in a lifetime cash out of an investment.  

This will directly affect people who try to cash out of investments at the top of gains, even when they're a normal Canadian with their retirement accounts.  Many normal Canadians invest in stocks for retirement, and sometimes a stock will go up a lot in someone's portfolio and they'll want to sell it and move it into other investments.

Going from 50 percent to 67 percent is no small tax increase.

The introduction of the GST 中产税 was very controversial. Although the GST was promoted as revenue-neutral in relation to the MST富人税, a large proportion of the Canadian population disapproved of the tax.

卖投资房的收益只有一半计入资本收益，就算67%的税率，其实也只有33.5%，这比拿工资的人交的税率低很多，我认为我还会继续加码投资加拿大房市

不是这样。这次改的是“卖投资房的收益只有一半计入资本收益”这件事。这个“一半”改成了“三分之二”。税率没改，依然取决于纳税人自己的税率区间。以安省为例，按最高一级税率区间算（联邦33%，安省20.5%），是53.5%。那么资本利得里面最多会有2/3 * 53.5%=35.67%要交税。

35.67%的税率不算高，而且这个税率还是最高档的，95%的人都不会交这个最高档的税率。所以这个税率改变还是很合理的，在富人的承受范围内。如果每个人都不交税，国家还怎么发展。

是的，我对这次的变化没什么意见。历史上加拿大在整个九十年代都是对资本利得的75%征税的，比这次修改之后还高。
