亚历山大.波菲里耶维奇.鲍罗丁(Alexander Porphyrievitch Borodin1833－1887),俄国作曲家,从小就对科学和音乐都有浓厚兴趣.他专业是化学,1856年自彼得堡医学院毕业,后从事教学科研工作,并有重要发明.二十五岁获医学博士学位,后任医学院教授.直至1869年《第一交响曲》公演前,一直是业余音乐爱好者.他能在化学、音乐两大领域获得成功,一是他的努力,另要归功他的音乐老师和朋友巴拉基列夫、里姆斯基-柯萨科夫等人.他是“强力五人集团”之一,主要作品有：被称“勇士”的《第二交响曲》,交响音画《在中亚细亚草原》和两部弦乐四重奏,还有根据十二世纪俄罗斯史诗《伊戈尔远征记》自编脚本的歌剧《伊戈尔王》,他去世后,由里姆斯基-柯萨科夫和格拉祖诺夫续成.

《伊戈爾王》原著：波羅維茨舞曲曾是奴隸舞曲

    十二世紀在古俄羅斯的布基弗爾城，諾夫哥羅德大公伊戈爾和王子弗拉基米爾率軍討伐入侵的波羅維茨人，不幸戰敗被俘。在波羅維茨人的營地，王子和波羅維茨公主康恰柯芙娜相愛，而伊戈爾一心希望逃回祖國，以雪前恥。波羅維茨首領康恰可汗很欣賞他的剛強、豪勇，表示願意釋放他，但要他答應不再與波羅維茨人為敵，被伊戈爾拒絕。後來，伊戈爾得到了波羅維茨唯一的正教徒奧弗魯爾的幫助，終於設法逃回了祖國。而王子弗拉基米爾也如願以償地在波羅維茨同康恰柯芙娜公主成親，當了敵國的駙馬。


      《波羅維茨舞曲》為第二幕中，波羅維茨康恰可汗奉被俘的伊戈爾為貴賓，提議結盟一起統治俄羅斯遭到拒絕後，可汗豪爽大笑讓男女奴隸向伊戈爾獻舞時表演。
