在画廊发表了几篇“之乎者也”的文言文，很有可能误导别人，感觉老V是一个七老八十之古稀老头。其实老V尚未到天命之年。大学读的是理工科，也没有专业的文学语言的培训，就是高中的语文水平而已。

近期，看到画廊争吵不断，远非观点不同所能概括，已经涉及人身讥讽和攻击。记得6，7年前，在一个群组的邮件中，也涉及到很多争论。老V 特意为此写了一篇英文文章：Free to express – 自由表达。表达了自己对争论的个人看法。原文刊载此，个人的观点表达在前四段，后面叙述的是其他事情，有一定关联，所以无节删地全文刊载。

秀秀老V的英文水平哈。英文一度是老V的弱项，大学读书时，英语授课分快慢班，老V分在慢班，考试成绩总是在70分左右，曾有一次英文补考。所以，有文法，语句错误，请各位多多包涵啊！

Crossing over the pacific ocean and settling down on this far-flung land, Not only are we enjoying the peaceful surrounding, fresh air and high quality life, but also we should learn the systems of the democracy and the politics of the country.“When in Rome do as the Romans do”, People can freely express their ideas no matter whether the ideas are consistent with the mainstream. It is assured that different or maybe a bit harsh sound exists in every corner of this society, even in the alumni groups, that is the way the western countries to be.

  

Any initiative or proposal could be crippled one without discussion or debate. From different perspectives, we will lead to disparity consequences. it is normal that there are different opinions or even disagreements on some issues, of course, that doesn’t mean the originals are eclipsed. So don’t be distracted or disappointed with these disaccords.

In addition, people will be drawn their attention on those issues if the arguments are provoked.  Maybe people ignore any topics that don't matter them, but any tumult will make a splash and excite their curiosities, “what are they arguing for?”，they will look into and take part in the events. So argument is all a ploy, it is more attractive than dissident, we reach the same goal by different routes.

  

The matter of disputation should focus on the main point, the line of reasoning and supported examples, it is rude to impugn opponents with no-holds barred, for example,dwarfing opponents’ personality is surely unacceptable, and that of many of  disputers as well. To judge the case as it stands.

  

With the patient and detailed explanation of Mrs. G’s, we are cherishing the hope and realizing that we could be the boss or CEO of our own company even we wouldn't have the prerequisites. Mrs.G, who has been canvassing the alumni in North American to create their own business in China for many years, is inspiring us with her tightly choreographed business journey in China. “What is the most enjoyable is the process of setting up the business, not all the results” She advised. We believe, with her perseverant or persistent efforts, lots of alumni will be engaging some business plans in China.We’ll be eternally grateful to her.

  

Anyway, Nostalgia is one of primary emotions of mankind, it dwells in human beings’ minds despite race, religion and culture background. “Falling leaves settle on their roots”,wherever you were born, in New Jerusalem or in the underprivileged districts, the sentiment of homesick was inevitable. AiQing (艾青), a famous patriotic poet in China, said:“why are my eyes always full of tears? because I have a profound love for this land!” （为什么我的眼里常含泪水？因为我对这土地爱得深沉）.  Long ago, when I was a schoolchild,a legend was circulating in our primary school: the commander of the air force of GuoMinDang’s (国民党), who led the fleet preparing to retreat to Taiwan, piloted the plane specially to hover several circles over his hometown, a greenish island lying on the estuary of the Yangzi River （长江）, for a last farewell before heading for Taiwan…

it sounds odd here. if 'People can freely express their ideas no matter whether the ideas are consistent with the mainstream', 'they' don't have to 'do as the Romans do'.
that's the whole idea -- you don't have to give up what you believe - or believed - just because you're in rome and everyone of romans doesn't believe what you believe, and you should be entitled to express what you believe. that's the FREEDOM to express.

我觉得网友之间不应该轻易冠上虚伪一词。说实在的，大家在网上聊聊天，很多人都没见过面，也没有实际打过交道，怎么知道虚伪不虚伪呢。无论如何，我觉得礼貌和尊重是应该的，如果有网友因此觉得俺虚伪，那俺就“虚伪”了。whatever. :-D
说实在的，真的不太明白什么是“虚伪”哈哈。

俺这篇文章是想给你审阅的，得到你的首肯是俺的荣幸
写过此类英文文章有200多篇，以前主要放在MSN上
后来MSN博客关闭后，文章移到wordpress.com后就懒得再贴了
文章写在MSN上，主要是与以前老友有e-mail通信，顺便看看文章
以后再写的文章就主要放在了51博客上了
wordpress,con好几年都没有登陆了，密码都忘了
但至今都能收到来自世界各地网友的e-mail， 对俺文章的关注
他们一直认为俺是一个专栏作家，至少一个非母语写英文的写手
俺哪有那么多时间与他们联络，写英文文章只是爱好，凭一时的热情而已
用非母语写作是很累的，要注意的东西很多：语法，词汇，结构，固定用法...等等
否则，会贻笑大方的，不如母语灵活自如，张口就来！

居然俺写的英文习作，为那么多人捧场，真是出人意外？！
俺真有写的那么好吗？我都怀疑自己的能力了，不就是词汇堆积吗？！
不过，每次中英文写好后，自己再阅读都怀疑这是自己写的东西了
俺的思维一直游离在现实与梦境之间！
